A new deal has been signed between the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the premier global supplier of integrated systems, modules and components to the motor vehicle industry, named ArvinMeritor. The officials from TCS have stated that the deal is having a duration of five years and has been signed for becoming the global engineering partner of the ArvinMeritor. A huge amount of investment is involved in this deal, however, the officials did not say anything further about the financial details of the deal.
While talking about the deal, one of the top officials of TCS has stated that the company will support the localization and globalization efforts of ArvinMeritors engineering capabilities, as part of the agreement. The efforts are inclusive of the product development and support for specific product lines in the Asia Pacific region. The official added that TCS will also set up a global engineering centre in Pune for providing a broad range of product engineering services to cater to the global needs of ArvinMeritor, with a specific focus on the Asian market.
The Vice-President, Engineering and Technical Planning, Light Vehicle Systems of ArvinMeritor, Mr. Tom Watson was expressing his views over the deal and said, "ArvinMeritor will be focusing on the Asia-Pacific region where we are experiencing tremendous growth". He added, "While our current engineering workforce serves us well in Western Europe and North America, our growth objectives require expansion of our engineering footprint. Automotive capability, domain knowledge, proven track record, global presence, robust collaboration processes and commitment to our success were important parameters in the selection of a suitable partner and TCS was the clear choice".
The Vice-President, Engineering and Industrial Services of TCS, Mr. Regu Ayyaswamy also commented on the issue and said, "As ArvinMeritor extends its current competencies to new product categories through use of electronics and control technologies, TCS along with its group company INCAT will deliver end-to-end comprehensive solutions to support ArvinMeritor. Our Global Network Delivery Model™ will seamlessly ensure that ArvinMeritor experiences certainty in all aspects of our relationship in any part of the globe".
