The major networking technology provider company, Cisco has recently restructured its business strategy in India for meeting some specific geographies and business clusters. The company officials have stated that the new business structure is having a strong regional focus that is backed by advisory services, coming through what the company is describing as Industry Business Councils (IBCs). The officials added that the IBCs usually support the regional sales teams with the industry- specific solutions.
Commenting on the new strategy, the Senior Vice-President, South and Sri Lanka of Cisco, Mr. Pramodh Menon said, "The market in the Indian sub-continent is quite diverse and business varies from one region to another and the flavour changes within 500 km. Therefore, we now have an extremely geographical focused entity". He added that the companys business has been structured geographically with some dedicated teams driving four regions, each with distinct areas of focus.
Mr. Menon was also talking about the other plans of the company and said, "By bringing local sensitivities and offering customized services, with a region and industry-specific solutions, we are able to offer them the perfect solution. For instance, an SMB is assessed based on number of computers rather than the number of employees it has. It may have few hundred employees as in a textile company, but has few computers". He also referred to the companys Easy Lease Plan, and said that it has made swift inroads into the country helping small companies to harness the power of technology to stay competitive.
