The giant IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organization in India, named the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has commenced the construction work of its largest development centre at the TCS Sahyadri Park in Hinjewadi in Pune, on Wednesday. The park is going to be developed in an area of over 50 acres for creating a capacity of 20,000 seats and the company is expecting the first phase of the project with 7,000 seats, to be completed by then month of March 2009.
Informing all these, the Chief Executive Officer of TCS, Mr. S. Ramadorai and the Chief Financial Officer of TCS, Mr. S. Mahalingam said that the entire facility would be completed by the end of 2010. They said that the second phase of the project is having a capacity of 7,000 seats and the capacity of the third phase is 6,000 seats. The company is making an investment of Rs 450 crore into the facility for the first phase and it would invest another Rs 250 crore each for both the second and third phase.
While commenting on the project further, a sources from the company said that the facility is being constructed in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The source said that the Phase One would be consisting of the campus administration and visitor centre block with a 500-seat auditorium, a training and recruitment centre, central library, site utilities and also the first software development block. The source added that the Phase Two is going to have an employee amenity building with stores, bank and a childcare centre and the final and the third phase would be having the sports facilities. The source also said that Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd is going to develop the facility and the company has appointed Mr. Frank Glynn of El Segundo, California as the principal architect along with the Edifice architects from Pune. Mr. Ramadorai further said that the new facility is going to provide product services to the US-based company ArvinMeritor.
