One of the leading industrialist organizations in India, the Aditya Birla Group has stated that the sales of its cement has went up by 2.8 per cent to 3.03 million tonnes (mt), in the month of March, in comparison to the previous year. The company officials have informed that the production of cement was also up by 4.9 per cent at 3.03 mt in the same month of March.
The company has released an official statement regarding the matter on Thursday and said that the sales in the financial year of 2008 raised by 4.5 per cent to 30.55 mt from that of 29.2 mt in the previous year. The statement added that the production has also increased by 4.8 per cent to 30.6 mt in this financial year in comparison to that of 29.24 mt that was recorded in the corresponding period, last year. The statement informed that the group started its cement production at its new grinding unit at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh that is having a capacity of producing 1.30-mt cement per annum.
