The giant gasket maker company from Germany, named the Victor Reinz has recently announced that it is planning to manufacture a variety of products for the Indian and also the overseas markets from its new plant located in Talegaon near Pune. The company officials have stated that the new manufacturing facility is being established by a 51:49 joint venture company between the Victor Reinz and Pune-based Jayant Group, named the Victor Reinz India. They added that the new facility would be delivering gaskets, heat taps, cam covers, gasket materials and sealants to the major automotive companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault and Audi, once it becomes fully functional.
The Managing Director of Victor Reinz India, Mr. Aakash Dave was talking about the companys plans in India and said that the newly floated company would make an investment of Rs 40 crore for setting up the manufacturing unit in two phases. He said, "Victor Reinz products are already popular in India, and we are selling 8.50 lakh cylinder gaskets annually. The new manufacturing facility would mainly target the domestic market". The industry sources have informed that the Victor Reinz is actually a group company of the DANA Group and it is also planning to tap the export markets with the products manufactured at its Talegaon facility.
While elaborating the companys plans with the new facility, the President of DANA Sealing Products, Mr. Ralf Goettel said, "If our customers demand, we may export products manufactured at the Talegaon facility to regions like Europe, China and the US". He added that the company is expecting the new manufacturing facility to start its operations from the first quarter of the next year and it would be delivering two million units per year. Mr. Dave added in this context, "We now have a turnover of 5.50 million euro in the Indian market, and we expect it to cross the 10 million euro mark by 2011 as the new facility picks up pace".
