The famous design software and digital solutions company, named Autodesk, has announced that it has recently signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M). The officials of the company have stated that the MoU has been signed for establishing a first-of-its-kind integrated construction practice laboratory in India.
According to one of the top officials of the Autodesk, the laboratory is going to be the nucleus for a consortium of facility owners, contractors, consultants and the researchers. The official said that the consortium was formed for addressing the need-based research in the area. The official also said that the IIT-M is planning to initiate a graduate-level course in integrated construction practice, as well and it is also going to jointly conduct a finishing school on integrated construction practice with Autodesk.
While commenting on the MoU signing with Autodesk, the Director of IIT-Madras, Mr. M S Ananth said, "We are increasingly seeing the benefits of using intelligent design technologies in all fields of engineering. This MoU between IIT Madras and Autodesk will empower our students to be trained in interdisciplinary areas for the design of constructed facilities".
