Canon targeting 50% growth for Camera division
The major company in the Indian digital imaging technology industry, Canon India has announced a number of 5 new initiatives informed on Wednesday for achieving a 50 per cent growth for its camera division. The company officials have stated that the objectives like strengthening distribution and retail focus, launching of a pro-community site, corporate focus, consumer touch and channel schemes and promotion, are going to be included in the new approach of Canon. While talking about the companys plans, the Senior Vice-President of Canon India, Mr. Alok Bharadwaj said, "The digital camera division contributes 30 per cent to our revenues". He said that the company is planning to add 2 new master service centers in the cities like Bangaluru and Chennai by the end of 2008. He added that Canon is having 2 such centers at Gurgaon and Mumbai at the moment and it will also open another 6 exclusive Canon showrooms in all the major markets across India. The first of these showrooms is going to be opened in Gurgaon in this month.
The President and CEO of Canon India, Mr. Kensaku Konishi was also talking about the companys plans and said, "We aim to double our revenues to Rs 1,000 crore by 2010". He added that the company has achieved a turnover of Rs 510 crore in the year of 2007 and it has also launched a number of 23 models of digital and camcorder products for the Indian market on Wednesday.
