Hyundai Expanding Its Operations In Rural India
The largest passenger car exporter in India, Hyundai Motor India, has stated that it is planning expand its operations in the rural areas of the country and has launched a new promotional scheme for the purpose. The scheme of the giant automobile operating in India, is titled as "Ghar Ghar Ki Pehchaan" and the Hyundai Motor is going to extend special schemes for the government employees in rural areas and members of gram panchayats on the purchase of the Hyundai Santro. The company launched the scheme on 1st May and said that the scheme is going to continue till 31st July, 2008.

According to one of the top officials of the company, Hyundai Motor India is planning to reach in at least 58 per cent of the Indian villages with a population of 500 or more, through this special rural scheme. The Senior Vice-President for Sales and Marketing of Hyundai Motor India, Mr. Arvind Saxena was talking about the new scheme and said, "Nearly 70 per cent of India resides in rural areas, which presents an enormous demand base and a market too huge to overlook. Under the Ghar Ghar Ki Pehchaan scheme, our dealers will contact the panchayats and conduct regular road shows, distributing pamphlets and posters to promote the scheme, and also make the villagers aware about this unique initiative by Hyundai".

Mr. Saxena added, "We are also in talks with a financing institution with a huge branch network to extend easy financing options for the people in rural India". A recent survey showed that almost 50 per cent of the 220 million households in rural India are having the potentiality to buy a car, thanks to the agricultural subsidies extended by the government and also for increase in productivity of agri-based products. The officials of Hyundai have stated that this survey result has definitely presented an attractive market for the hi-technology products like the Santro.
