The telecommunication company that has already established itself as the largest one in India, Bharti Airtel Ltd has recently informed that it is thinking of offering managed data services to its subscribers, soon. The company officials have stated that the company is thinking so as a part of its long distance telephony portfolio and also with an objective to meet the growing need for better enterprise communications. The officials added that Airtel has also received a standardization certificate from the Cisco for venturing into the managed services space, wherein the company is going to become an end-to-end solutions provider for corporates.
Informing that the company is also discussing with the AT&T and BT for offering its nationwide network to the global majors, the President, Enterprise Services of Bharti Airtel Ltd, Mr. David Nishball said, "All telecom players in the country are currently offering just point-to-point infrastructure to the enterprise segment. But as more multinational firms enter the country, customers in India are demanding more levels of service than just providing connectivity. Our foray into managed services is a move to address that growing demand by offering services that takes care of all their requirement as a system integrator".
The sources from the industry have stated that the managed services are essentially being used by the large corporate houses that have presence in a number of locations. The sources added that though Bharti Airtel was focusing only on providing the basic bandwidth, until now, it is going to offer a complete solution from now. The sources further informed that with this complete solution, the consumers need not buy their own equipment or servers, as Bharti is going to offer the equipment on lease and will also manage the entire network for them.
