The major telecom service provider in India, Tata Indicom, has recently announced that it is going to make a huge investment of Rs 600 crore in this financial year for setting up some new telecom towers and enhance its network in the East zone, further. The company is having a number of 1774 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the region at the moment.
Talking about the companys in details, the Regional Head, East and the COO, Kolkata Circle of Tata Indicom, Mr. Sanjiv Sinha, said that the company is planning to add another 713 BTS in the eastern region in the current financial year. He said that Tata Indicom is having a customer base of three million in the East India at the moment and it is thinking of adding another three million customer base, very soon. He added that the company is also having some plans for making foray into the North east, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir by 15th August, this year.
Continuing to make comments on the companys plans, Mr. Sinha also said that after implementing the expansion plans, the company is going to complete its pan-India presence. He said that the company is thinking of investing an amount of Rs 290 crore in building its network in the North East region and Tata Indicom has also launched its walky-talky services in Kolkata for the post paid customers. Informing that the company is going to introduce the walky-talky service for the pre paid customers, Mr. Sinha further added that Tata Indicom is enjoying a market share of 14 per cent in Kolkata and is operating in 18 circles, at the moment.
