The Volkswagen Group in India has closed the year 2008 with an impressive achievement. The three brands of the Group Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen delivered in total 18,725 vehicles to customers as compared to 12,718 cars sold in 2007, up by 6007 cars, taking the companys growth to a record of 47%.
Joerg Mueller, President and Managing Director Volkswagen Group India said, "This achievement for the Volkswagen Group in India stands testimony to our success in the country since the start of our operations. It was an exciting year 2008 with launches of the Audi A4, Audi TT, Audi R8, the Skoda Fabia and the Volkswagen Jetta. In addition to that we have also successfully strengthened our dealership network for all three brands across the country and created a pan India presence."
Mueller added, "As a Group, we have become synonymous with cutting edge technology and engineering, comfort and safety which is what customers look for. This makes us more confident of our journey ahead and encourages us to move forward to realise our plans for the Indian market."
The year 2008 has been quite rewarding for the Volkswagen Group as it has been honoured with some of the most prestigious awards in the auto fraternity.
