The Western India Automobile Association has felicitated Castrol India Limited for its outstanding effort and commitment towards promoting the cause of Road Safety in India.
HRH Prince Michael of Kent has handed over the award on behalf of WIAA to Amish Mehta Executive Director, Castrol India Limited.
Nitin Dossa, Chairman, WIAA, said, "Castrol India has been doing exemplary work in the area of Road Safety over the years and is playing a pioneering role in promoting the cause of Road Safety in India. Both WIAA and Castrol are committed to the cause of road safety and we work closely in various road safety initiatives including setting up of the WIAA Castrol Institute of Motoring in Ahmedabad which promotes road safety. Over 50,000 drivers have been trained at this Institute over the last five years. Corporates like Castrol need to be recognized and applauded for their path breaking efforts and initiatives in promoting Road Safety."
Amish Mehta, Executive Director, Castrol India Limited, accepting the Award on behalf of Castrol India, said, "Road Safety is an area of primary concern for Castrol India. Everyone who drives for Castrol - be it our employee or our transporter, is expected to strictly comply with our Global Driving Safety Standards which focus on the safety of the driver, the vehicle and the journey."
Mehta added, "Our goal is to be a leader in driving safety and to share our experience, knowledge and safety with others to help improve driving safety not just within our organization but also in the wider community. On behalf of Castrol India, I am delighted to receive the WIAA Award for Road Safety which is recognition of the tremendous effort that all our employees and transporters put into planning and implementing our road safety agenda every day."
Castrol India is also a two time recipient of the prestigious IRTE Prince Michael Award for Road Safety in 2002 and 2004. In 2005, Castrol received the highest internal Award in the BP Group (Castrols parent company) the Helios Human Energy Award for its achievement in the area of road safety.
