Philips Electronics India Ltd., countrys leading lighting company, has launched Indias most advanced and comprehensive Decorative Home Lighting Collection catering to the evolving lifestyle needs of global Indians.
This launch is a part of Philips strategy to further extend its product portfolio by introducing relevant offerings in the emerging markets. Philips acquired Partners in Lighting International (PLI), a leading European manufacturer of home luminaires in 2006. This brought together a company that knew the consumer luminaires market with a high innovation rate and broad product portfolio, with Philips, providing the brand, technology innovations and infrastructure for further growth.
The home decorative lighting market in India is estimated to be growing at a healthy 25% per annum. The market is currently inundated with unbranded cheap imports that do not always satisfy energy efficiency and safety norms. Philips plans to differentiate its offerings through innovation in design, energy efficiency and application of its global lighting application expertise.

Mathew Job, Senior Marketing Director -Lighting Sector, Philips Electronics India Ltd. said, "Philips is currently in the process of setting up an entirely new pan-India distribution network which specializes in decorative lighting. This is a new channel network which will principally drive the home decorative lighting category for Philips in India. To begin with, we plan to bring top 35 cities within our distribution footprint by end 2009."
Philips will make substantial marketing investments in creation of Light Lounges - experience centers that will provide the consumers with a unique see, touch and feel experience. Additionally, well-trained Home design experts will aid the consumers in making the right choice for their homes.
The products will be available at leading lighting stores in India. The product range starts from Rs 250 while the high end products would be priced up to Rs 20, 000. The product line-up is divided into three segments - Functional range, Decorative range and top of the line lifestyle range.
