Videocon is planning to enter the pan-India DTH business through its recently registered subsidiary Bharat Broadcasting Corporation Pvt. Ltd, according to a report.
It also plans to launch mobile phone services through its majority owned company named Datacom Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
The telecom business is synergistic with Videocons core businesses. Venugopal Dhoot, Chairman of the Company said that the group will enter the pan-India DTH business through its recently registered subsidiary Bharat Broadcasting Corporation Pvt. Ltd and launch mobile phone services.
The group has reportedly invested around Rs3bn and committed to around Rs15bn to the business. The mobile phone business will initially be launched in the southern parts of India and expanded across the country over the next 12 months, Dhoot added.
