Hotel Ebony is busy to set up a 300-seater convention facility next to the Hyderabad hotel by the end of 2009.
The hotel started operating last month and is positioned as a three star boutique hotel. It involved an estimated amount of Rs 10 crore to set up the hotel. It is located near Banjara Hills, the corporate hub of Hyderabad and is aiming to cater to business patrons.
According to Ananth Badhe, Director, Ebony Boutique Hotel, the convention centres development will be a revenue generator, which caters to the MICE segment. However, as per the industry, this might not be the perfect time to launch a new hotel because of the market situation.
Badhe said, "The recession is actually working to our advantage. With the current downgrading in the market, decision makers still vie for personalised service and five-star facilities at a cheaper price. Today, we are in the age of providing value add-ons. Thus, we plan to provide five-star facilities at three-star prices (with our property)."
At present, the hotel provides an average room at the rate of Rs 3000 to 3,500. The instant focus of the company is on brand building although it is planning to extend its presence in the hospitality industry for the next six months.
The company is also involved in launching its dedicated website www.ebonyhotel.in to ensure hotel bookings through the e-commerce module. The website will be operational by month end. The company is planning to expand its brand into major metros within the next five years.
The next aim of the company is Bangalore but it also finds potential in resort locations like Coorg. It is also aiming to set up the restaurant brands at its first property Cascade and Finz as standalone restaurants across Tier-I cities. The company will focus on the expansion post 2009.
Ebony Boutique Hotel includes 33 deluxe rooms and three suites and two fine dining outlets including Cascade, a 24 hour coffee shop and Finz, a sea food specialty restaurant.
