Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the CNG variant of its pick-up vehicle Maxx Maxi. The new variant of truck is available at a price of Rs 3.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Speaking to the media, senior Vice-President Marketing Automotive Sector Vivek Nayer informed, "Last year auto industry saw domestic pick-up vehicles segment sales decline by 4 per cent but M&M managed to grow by 11 per cent and we have managed to grow our market share to 85 per cent from 77 per cent."
Since its launch in 2006, Maxx Maxi Truck has been the growth driver in the four wheeler small load category and the CNG variant will add significantly to it, he said.
M&M is the leading player in the pick-up vehicle market which has annual sales of around 56,000 units. Tata Motors is the other player with its 207Di.
Speaking about sales prospects in the segment for the fiscal, Nayer said, "It is very difficult to predict but definitely we can say compared with what was in last six months, today the market is much better."
